—> Struggling with feeling like people are stealing your purpose? Read this!<–
So, you finally found God’s will for your life. You’ve found your purpose; you found the path that you were meant to go down. You spent time in prayer seeking God and He’s finally revealed to you where you truly belong. You now realize every door that was shut on you and everyone who rejected you in the past was God gently nudging you and guiding you into what He really wanted you to do. The door was opened to you and you walked through it without looking back.
Unfortunately, when you went into your new season you now notice that people that never even talked about doing the work you’re doing are suddenly trying to do what God told YOU to do! What’s worse is that it’s plain as day that they are not graced to handle that call and they are trying to force something that God never ordained in the first place. What do you do when someone is committing identity theft in the Spirit against you?! There’s no need to fret or be distraught over this because God has seen it all, let’s turn to 1st Corinthians :
“The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body. So it is with the body of Christ. 13 Some of us are Jews, some are Gentiles,[a] some are slaves, and some are free. But we have all been baptized into one body by one Spirit, and we all share the same Spirit.”
1 Corinthians 12:12-13(NLT)
If we are all of the same body, but made up of different parts, this means that each believer is called to their own specific purpose, but our goal should be to produce a common output(to advance the Kingdom of Heaven and to hold onto our faith). Every believer has something that they’re called to do and it’s up to God to determine what that is, how it will be achieved, and how far God intends to let them go. The amount of people I reach may not be the same as another person, but that does not mean that other person and I are not doing what God called us to do. When we obey God’s leading, we will reach souls no matter what, and will fulfill what God has purposed us to do.
When you know what God has spoken for YOU to do, this will help you to stay focused on your own pathway, instead of looking at everyone else and what THEY are or are NOT doing. Even if a person is not doing what God really told them to do and they are indeed trying to emulate you instead, I just want to point out that they more than likely admire you in some way, even if they are trying to take what you’re doing for evil intentions. Some people are not even paying attention to what you are doing at all, and are just focused on their own path. If God is both of your sources, similarities occur, but that does not mean that they are even paying attention to you like that. Either way, these things should not lead you to act out of fear and desperation that someone may take or successfully emulate what you’re doing.
When I was younger I used to draw ALL the time, as well as write fictional stories. The one thing that was crazy about this is I was so scared that someone was going to steal my ideas or take what I felt like was mine, that I hid my talents from others for YEARS. As I continued to hide my talents I became doubtful of my abilities and extremely critical to the point where I never felt good enough at drawing, specifically(I did not have this problem with writing). Every time I heard the parable of the talents I cringed and felt guilty because I knew I was in disobedience to God!
I remember working hard to become better at drawing and when I finally started getting to a place where I actually liked my work, I felt incomplete. I was not satisfied in doing things the way that I did them. The crazy thing about it was God eventually told me to temporarily give up drawing to Him so He could work on me later on in my life and thus give up sin as well. My reaction revealed SO much of what was in my heart. Give up drawing!! I could never! I LOVED drawing! It was MY talent! It was something I could hold on to! How could God do this to me!?
When I finally gave up drawing, the Lord revealed to me that all those ideas and things I was clinging so desperately to did NOT come from Him. They were MY ideas, which I was coveting over HIS plans and ideas for my life. Are you like how I was when I was younger? Are you coveting the ideas and purpose you think God gave you so much that you think someone is stealing or is going to steal such a GREAT idea? The enemy will have you somewhere thinking that you have to hide and shield the things God actually has given you so they end up not being shared with as many people as God has intended them to be.
“I planted the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow. 7 It’s not important who does the planting, or who does the watering. What’s important is that God makes the seed grow. 8 The one who plants and the one who waters work together with the same purpose.”
1 Cornithains 3:6-9(NLT)
Did you read that!? GOD is the one that will grow the seed! As I matured in the faith God has taught me that if you have an idea that God has given you, HE is the one that will do what needs to be done to nurture what is planted in you. God will protect the seed He’s placed in you from the right people and will help it to develop and grow at its own pace. This of course, doesn’t mean that you go and share your ideas with everyone while they are in seed form(aka underdeveloped), it simply means that when you begin sprouting or growing into a larger tree you do NOT have to worry about these things.
“But our bodies have many parts, and God has put each part just where he wants it. 19 How strange a body would be if it had only one part! 20 Yes, there are many parts, but only one body. 21 The eye can never say to the hand, “I don’t need you.” The head can’t say to the feet, “I don’t need you.”
1 Corinthians 12:18-21(NLT)
There is no one who can hold you back from doing what God called you to do! Since the moment you were born God knew what He wanted YOU to do, and although there may be some people who are trying to do the same thing you’re doing just because they sense that the ideas are popular, they are NOT doing what you’re doing! They will NOT take any power from your purpose or call! No one can steal the call God has placed on YOUR life. No one hinder what God wanted to do in your life PERIOD. God is the one that calls you and God is the one that completes the work in YOU! Anyone trying to hinder what God called you to do purposely are being used by the enemy. God has placed what’s inside of you so you can do what He needs you to do, so stop letting the noise of others drown out God’s call on your life. There is no need to worry about what others are doing, just keep your eyes fixed on what God has told YOU to do.
“looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
Hebrews 12:2(NKJV)
Note: Hello everyone! God is changing directions with what He wants me to do online, as He originally planned from the start, so I have not been updating here much. I plan to update as God leads if He leads me to continue updating at all. Thanks for reading!
Adrianna, I cannot say how much this post blessed me. It was right on time and I am always amazed at how God speaks to us through other people! Have a wonderful weekend!
