Messy Faith: How to approach God confidently in prayer

How have you been approaching God in prayer lately? Mad, confused, defeated, or filled with unbelief? It’s possible that God wants to answer your prayer but first must deliver you from what’s inside your heart. If you been having difficulty seeing an answer to some of your prayers this might just be the sermon for you. God doesn’t call us to stay wimpy and weak in our faith, but calls us forward to grow in the Spirit as we walk with Him. Hope you enjoy this sermon I wrote and spoke that talks a bit about the problem of uncertainty in prayer. God bless

Purpose Series :: Becoming Grounded in Christ

When I was first graduating high school, there were so many things I enjoyed doing and some of those things I was pretty good at. I had a lot of different interests so when it came to finding my purpose and call in life, I was utterly and completely lost. I see a lot of people who have the opposite of this problem, but still can relate to my struggle of being lost on what God has called them to do. Just like everyone else I was clueless in which direction I should head, not because I didn’t know my gifts, but because I was not grounded in my identity. I had an idea of who God was, but had no idea what He said about me. I think a lot of people might think one is ‘lucky’ to know what they are good at or what interests them, and that is true if you have one set goal in mind, however when you have multiple things tugging at you and pulling you in multiple directions it’s hard to pinpoint where you should move. If you have no target to hit, you cannot miss, but if you have multiple targets to hit, and should only hit one, you might feel a bit anxious about your next move.

Purpose Series:: Discerning your Seasons | How to Know God’s Timing

How to Know God’s Timing

“Timing is everything,” is how the saying goes. In fact, timing is so prevalent in our current society that when it’s completely off, out of whack, or out of sync, everyone seems to notice. Not only do we notice, but we become frustrated and agitated any time our flights are delayed, our appointments have to be rescheduled, or a meeting has to be canceled. I cannot count how many times, I have been delayed in traffic and have seen others around me on the road become irritated due to construction slowing down traffic moving forward.

When we are in these situations either others or even we ourselves become frustrated to the point that we try to force things to move forward. I’ve often seen cars jerk and make sharp turns to get off the street of the traffic or they will attempt to cut in front of others to get to where the want to be at before it’s their time. How many times have we tried to move ahead of our own time in life? How many times have we tried to force God’s hand and push God to do what we wanted Him to do, instead of just doing what He spoke for us to do and then waiting to see where He wants to take things?

#Misunderstood: Understanding the Nature of God

Misunderstood

—–Understanding the Nature of God—–

Have you ever been negatively accused of being something or someone you’re not? Usually you would brush it off, if a complete stranger made accusations about you. You might not see them again and they are not close enough to you to make a true assessment of your character. It’s awkward and upsetting, however, when people who are supposed to know you, don’t know your nature at all. So, you can only imagine how God must feel when people are claiming to serve Him and be friends with Him are misunderstanding and misjudging His character.

How many times have you accused God of being unfair or anything BUT good because He did NOT give you something? Have you assumed the Master was harsh because of your circumstances? This is a dangerous place to be in as a Christian. I would know because when God was trying to break me free of an atheist mindset, I struggled with thoughts like this due to my inability to see God’s hand moving on my life.

Christianese 101: What is the Unforgivable sin?

What is the UNFORGIVABLE SIN?

A while ago, I told someone that I would briefly address the unforgivable sin, which is blaspheme against the Holy Spirit.

Due to jealousy and anger the Pharisees, religious leaders who claimed to follow God, accused the Spirit that Jesus operated in as a demon. Accusing ANYONE who is obviously operating under the power of God as demon possessed or working with the devil would mean you committed this sin ESPECIALLY if it was done to defame and tear down the works that God is doing through them.

Freedom from People Bondage

PEOPLEBOND

You have to go to school, work, or even church again and you’re dreading it! Not because you don’t like the work you do there or the sermons you hear, but you can’t stand it because of the people! The people are literally the worse thing about these places and what’s worse is you’re one of the ‘super’ Christians that are there. People know you’re a strong believer! The truth is, you’re feeling isolated in your faith walk and your now experiencing what all believers experience at one point or the other. You’re experiencing being hated on for following Christ or maybe you’re just dealing with people who just don’t seem to like you because you are you. Well, friend, it’s time to let this people bondage go because it’s pretty much impossible to walk with God and value the opinions of man more than His opinion.

Am I called to singleness?

singlenessCalled2.png

So, you’ve been waiting on God for a spouse for some time now. At first, you started off strong, filled with fervor, and zeal for what God had for you. But now, you find yourself watching everyone around you getting engaged or married. You’re creeping up into your 30’s and now you’re starting to wonder to yourself: ‘God why am I left out?’ The strange thing is after a while you start feeling content being single. Like, WAAY too content being single, to the point where you are not concerned much about your spouse. Everyone is asking you about who you’re dating or if you’ve met someone and the only thing you can wonder to yourself is: ‘Is there something wrong with me?’ ‘Am I called to be single for the rest of my life?’

Christianese 101: ‘God Give Me My Hearts Desire!’

heartsDesire

Just this week, I was having a conversation with my boss about eating at Subway. He chuckled a bit and told me that he could probably guess the top three subs that I would like eating. Unfortunately, each time he guessed one, I cringed and then laughed at what he said. There was no WAY that I would order anything remotely close to what he was guessing. Those subs not only didn’t suit my tastes, but they also did not suit what I needed to maintain the body I had been given to take care of.

I then smiled warmly and told him exactly which ones I would like and we began to laugh as I guessed all of what he wanted correctly(my perception of people is high). It was kind of bizarre to me that this man that I had known for a while guessed the completely OPPOSITE of what I not only desired to eat but needed to maintain what God gave me.  Luckily for us, God is not like this at all, when He searches our hearts desires He can tell not only if they are something we truly want as well as if they are something we need.
