#Misunderstood: Understanding the Nature of God

Misunderstood

—–Understanding the Nature of God—–

Have you ever been negatively accused of being something or someone you’re not? Usually you would brush it off, if a complete stranger made accusations about you. You might not see them again and they are not close enough to you to make a true assessment of your character. It’s awkward and upsetting, however, when people who are supposed to know you, don’t know your nature at all. So, you can only imagine how God must feel when people are claiming to serve Him and be friends with Him are misunderstanding and misjudging His character.

How many times have you accused God of being unfair or anything BUT good because He did NOT give you something? Have you assumed the Master was harsh because of your circumstances? This is a dangerous place to be in as a Christian. I would know because when God was trying to break me free of an atheist mindset, I struggled with thoughts like this due to my inability to see God’s hand moving on my life.

Christianese 101: What is the Unforgivable sin?

What is the UNFORGIVABLE SIN?

A while ago, I told someone that I would briefly address the unforgivable sin, which is blaspheme against the Holy Spirit.

Due to jealousy and anger the Pharisees, religious leaders who claimed to follow God, accused the Spirit that Jesus operated in as a demon. Accusing ANYONE who is obviously operating under the power of God as demon possessed or working with the devil would mean you committed this sin ESPECIALLY if it was done to defame and tear down the works that God is doing through them.

Christianese 101: ‘God Give Me My Hearts Desire!’

heartsDesire

Just this week, I was having a conversation with my boss about eating at Subway. He chuckled a bit and told me that he could probably guess the top three subs that I would like eating. Unfortunately, each time he guessed one, I cringed and then laughed at what he said. There was no WAY that I would order anything remotely close to what he was guessing. Those subs not only didn’t suit my tastes, but they also did not suit what I needed to maintain the body I had been given to take care of.

I then smiled warmly and told him exactly which ones I would like and we began to laugh as I guessed all of what he wanted correctly(my perception of people is high). It was kind of bizarre to me that this man that I had known for a while guessed the completely OPPOSITE of what I not only desired to eat but needed to maintain what God gave me.  Luckily for us, God is not like this at all, when He searches our hearts desires He can tell not only if they are something we truly want as well as if they are something we need.

Christianese 101: God’s Plan NOT yours

GodsPlan

Imagine two people were given a seed, which was placed in the ground to watch over and cultivate. Both people were given an instruction on how to care for the seed to cause it to grow. Person A, was told to hop on one foot near the seed at least twice a day, until he was tired. Person B, was told something similar, but because he had so much KNOWLEDGE about taking care of and growing plants, he REFUSED to take care of the seed the way the instructions stated. No, instead he went to Google and YouTube to research and figure out HOW to grow the type of seed he was given and began doing NORMAL things to take care of a seed he thought was average.

Man A obeyed the instruction and hopped on one foot every day, and immediately saw some type of growth in his seed, whereas the man who became doubtful and discouraged by the instruction saw no growth at all. As man B saw man A begin to get fruit and growth from what he was doing with great ease, he became frustrated and discouraged! ‘Why is this man getting any growth at all? What he is doing is foolish! It makes absolutely no sense according to everything I’ve researched and all I know!’.  Unfortunately for man B, the person who gave them the seed was NOT an average man, but was God, and was the One who gave him the instructions as well.

Christianese 101: God said you’re my WIFE!

wifey_orNAw–>Manipulation, propheLYING, and ABUSE!<–

Ladies, there’s a type of man that seems holy, but as time progresses their real fruit is revealed. They like seeming saved or ‘nice’ publicly, but behind closed doors they are a vicious snake. A man can pray, but that doesn’t make him holy. He can go to church, but that doesn’t make him righteous. Does he really believe in God’s word? Or does he just use God’s name to manipulate you into doing what his flesh desires? In this day and age, where people so easily lie on God and what He has spoken, it’s important to know the difference! Now, I already wrote a blog post about women who hear that a man is their husband(Read about it HERE), but some of you guys don’t have that problem. Some of you guys have guys telling you, you are their WIFE! Sis, if you’re not married yet, or know some single women, it’s time to listen up, because this one message is important! Let’s turn to 1 Kings 13:

Christianese 101: ‘God said..he’s my husband!!’

–> Questions to ask yourself to see if God told you who your husband <–

So, you’ve found ‘The One’! The guy that makes your heart flutter, makes you skip a bit, or makes you sing. Well, maybe he doesn’t do all that for you, but something has whispered in your ear: ‘He’s the ONE!’ Maybe your excited about it or maybe your ready to run for the hills. Either way you need to discern whether or not this word came from God or the devil because if you don’t know this by now, Satan can and will speak to you every now and again to throw you off track. Don’t fret, I have ten questions that will help bring more clarity to whether or not you’re hearing from God about that special(or dreadful ) someone.

Christianese 101: Free Will

freewill

–>Can I mess up God’s plan for me?<–

I feel like a lot of younger Christians, and even some older ones, have this question on their mind every now and again. They often find themselves wondering if we have free will can we mess up the plan God has for us? I mean, can you mess up God’s will for your life? Can you just do something so insane, so crazy that you destroy everything that the all mighty God has planned for you to do? Some people would say yes that because God gives us ‘free will’ we can indeed mess up what He wants for us, while others stay focused on the fact that God is sovereign and since He controls everything there is no way that you could mess up His will for your life. Me, I’m a bit more complex than that. My answer is, no and yes at the same time. You can indeed ‘mess up’ God’s will for your life, but you can’t really mess it up.

Christianese 101: Suffering Wars

suffering

I’m kind of more on the sarcastic side of speech every now and again. I will occasionally joke or comment about being tired from school or work, but it’s usually nothing that is that deep for me. I do it just to poke fun at my situation. However, I notice that people get to the point where they get this big chip on their shoulders where they feel like they’ve been through more than another person so they should get more blessings. Or they have been through more than another person so they don’t feel sympathetic to a person’s situation. I see Christians especially falling into that ‘but, I suffered more’ comparison game. Sometimes I feel like I’m in the hunger games of suffering and we’re all having a ‘suffering war’ to see who outshines each other in what they’ve went through. However, God doesn’t play this game though. No, seriously He doesn’t. He actually will bless whomever He wants whether or not they suffered as much as you.

Christianese 101: Following God

Christ101Follow.PNG

—>Having regrets about following God?<—

It’s worth following God. No, really, it is. However, when preachers and evangelists tell others these things some forget to tell the full reality of following God. The truth is: it won’t always be pretty, sometimes you’ll be confused as to why God is allowing you to suffer through certain things, and sometimes—even most times–everything won’t be peaches and roses. See, with following God, there comes a cost. Jesus and the disciples were NOT afraid to tell these things to others. In fact, if you recount the fact that they often told people about the cost of following Jesus, especially before people began to follow, you cannot help but to admit the drawing power of God!
